Representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan, media outlets, diplomats, and experts participated in the event.
The Chinese ambassador noted that the SCO summit was the largest in the organization's history. More than 20 heads of state and 10 heads of international organizations participated in the meetings. The main goal of the meeting was to strengthen friendship, cooperation, and sustainable development among member countries.
Particular attention was paid to China's global governance initiatives. Chinese President Xi Jinping presented the "Global Governance Initiative," which aims to advance the principles of sovereign equality, the rule of international law, multilateralism, and a people-centered approach. Tajik President Emomali Rahmon expressed his full support for the initiative and confirmed Tajikistan's readiness to work with China to facilitate its implementation.
Eight key agreements were reached during the summit, including the development of an SCO development strategy for the next 10 years, the creation of "four security centers," the opening of the SCO Development Bank, the launch of six cooperation platforms and centers in science, digital economy, energy, and green industry, and the acceptance of Laos as a partner of the organization.
On September 2, a bilateral meeting between President Emomali Rahmon and Chinese President Xi Jinping took place in Beijing. During the talks, issues of transport connectivity, the digital economy, energy, the fight against transnational crime, and joint infrastructure projects were discussed. The parties reaffirmed the strategic importance of bilateral cooperation and agreed on new areas for developing their relationship.
A commemorative event commemorating the 80th anniversary of the Chinese People's Victory in the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and World War II was also held in Tiananmen Square. During the press conference, Ambassador Guo Zhijun emphasized that China and Tajikistan value peace and jointly strive to strengthen international stability and develop a shared future for humanity.
The ambassador also noted that China views Tajikistan as a reliable strategic partner. Bilateral cooperation encompasses economics, investment, transport infrastructure, the digital economy, green technologies, and cultural and humanitarian ties. He emphasized that Tajikistan plays a key role in ensuring regional security and stability within the SCO, and the organization provides opportunities to advance national interests, attract investment, and develop infrastructure.
According to Guo Zhijun, strategic relations between Tajikistan and China have been developing for over 30 years and have reached the level of partnership, successfully developing thanks to the efforts of the leaders of both countries. Particular attention is paid to cooperation within the SCO, where Tajikistan actively engages with all member states, observer states, and dialogue partners.
