Tajik athlete Madina Kurbonzoda won gold at the Asian Youth Judo Championships, which kicked off today in Jakarta, Indonesia. The Tajikistan Judo Federation announced this.
In the 52 kg weight class, Kurbonzoda demonstrated a confident performance. In the quarterfinals, she defeated her opponent from Kyrgyzstan, then defeated an Indian competitor in the semifinals to advance to the final. In the decisive bout, the Tajik judoka defeated Nigina Umirzakova from Uzbekistan, winning the tournament gold.
Tajikistan is represented by four athletes at the Asian Judo Federation Championship. In addition to Kurbonzoda, the competition includes Rashid Nematov and Bobojon Sharopov (up to 73 kg), as well as Abubakr Abdujalilzoda (up to 81 kg).
As noted in sports circles, Madina Kurbonzoda's victory was a significant achievement for Tajik judo on the international stage and a confirmation of the high potential of the republic's young athletes.
