Reports in several media outlets and social media about the detention of Kazakh Foreign Minister Murat Nurtleu are untrue. This was stated by Aida Balayeva, aide to the Kazakh president, in a post on her Facebook page.
Earlier, ORDA, citing sources, reported that law enforcement agencies allegedly detained the Foreign Minister, businessman Gadzhi Gadzhiev, and employees of the National Security Committee.
According to Balaeva, such information is unconfirmed and damages the reputation of civil servants.
"We must remember the principle of the presumption of innocence, as well as professional journalistic ethics. In the pursuit of 'hype' details, false information is often disseminated, which can cause harm to citizens and their loved ones, defamatory of their honor and dignity," she noted.
Balayeva emphasized that disseminating knowingly false information in Kazakhstan entails administrative and criminal liability.
Kazakh officials also confirmed that the Minister of Foreign Affairs continues to perform his duties and that reports of his detention are untrue.
