A new 1.8-kilometer water pipeline has been commissioned in the Shugnan district of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO). The pipeline will provide irrigation for 50 hectares of previously unused land, according to the regional administration's press service.
According to the agency, the water pipeline was launched during a working visit by GBAO Chairman Mirzonabot Alisher Khudoberdi to the village of Shitam. The event was attended by local residents, government officials, and business activists.
In the village of Shitam, there are 120 farms that have been given the opportunity to use new land for agricultural purposes. At the initiative of the regional administration, orchards have already been planted on 10 hectares, with a significant portion of the trees in good condition.
The regional chairman congratulated residents on the 34th anniversary of Tajikistan's state independence and emphasized the importance of rational use of water resources and every plot of land. He gave specific instructions on organizing efficient farming and developing new orchards.
Local residents expressed gratitude to the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan for the project's implementation, emphasizing that the water supply will increase crop yields and create additional conditions for rural development.
