On December 18, the National University of Tajikistan hosted a scientific and cultural event dedicated to International Arabic Language Day, which is celebrated annually on December 18.
The event was held at the initiative of the university's rector's office and was held at the Department of Arabic Philology in the Faculty of Asian and European Languages. The national anthems of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia were played at the beginning.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Republic of Tajikistan, Walid bin Abdulrahman Al-Reshaydon, participated in the conference. Previously, the ambassador met with the university's rector, Professor E. S. Nasriddinzoda, to discuss prospects for bilateral cooperation.






Vice-Rector for International Relations, Professor I. G. Gafforzoda, noted the importance of Tajikistan's friendly relations with Arab countries, including Saudi Arabia, and emphasized the significance of studying the Arabic language, literature, and culture.
Dean of the Faculty of Asian and European Languages, Associate Professor Saydalizoda Sh., noted that the Arabic language is particularly popular among the Tajik people, and the university pays special attention to it.





In his speech, Ambassador Walid bin Abdulrahman Al-Reshaidon of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia emphasized that Arabic was recognized as the sixth official language of the UN on December 18, 1973. The Ambassador expressed the embassy's readiness to provide ongoing support for teacher and student exchanges, as well as for Arabic language education.
The event also featured a cultural and entertainment program prepared by the faculty's students, including creative performances and poetry readings. Several faculty members and active students were awarded commemorative gifts.
