Qatari authorities expect a "collective response" from regional partners to Israel's strikes against Hamas representatives in Doha. Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani stated this in an exclusive interview with CNN, Tengrinews.kz reports.
"The region's response will follow. This response is currently being discussed and coordinated with other regional partners," he noted. According to Al Thani, an Arab-Islamic summit will be held in Doha in the coming days, where participants will decide on further actions.
The Prime Minister emphasized that Qatar does not intend to impose specific measures on its partners. "This must be a collective regional response. We hope for serious steps that will deter Israel from continuing this intimidation," he stated.
Al-Thani also accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of attempting to undermine the prospects for stability and peace by endangering the lives of hostages remaining in Gaza. He recalled that the meetings with Hamas representatives in Doha are taking place as part of Qatar's mediation role in the Middle East conflict, and emphasized that Israel and the United States are aware of these contacts.
Earlier, on September 9, Israel struck Hamas targets in the Qatari capital for the first time. The explosions occurred in Doha, where the movement's political leadership is based. Israel's measures provoked a sharp international reaction: Kazakhstan, the UN, and Arab countries condemned the attack as a violation of sovereignty, while the US and Europe expressed public disapproval.
