A presentation of Tajik culture and cuisine took place in Akita Prefecture, Japan, as part of an international festival dedicated to the 34th anniversary of the republic's independence. The Tajikstandard Agency reported this.
The event was held at the initiative of the Embassy of Tajikistan in Japan and with the participation of Tajik students from Akita University. Representatives from over 20 countries participated in the festival.
The students presented an exhibition about the history and cultural monuments of Tajikistan, as well as about the international initiatives of President Emomali Rahmon, including the conservation and rational use of water resources, as well as the problem of melting glaciers, which are of strategic importance to Central Asia.
Participants were particularly interested in Tajik cuisine—pilaf, qurutob, traditional sweets, and other popular treats. According to the organizers, the participation of Tajik students was an important contribution to strengthening cultural ties and friendship between Akita and other countries.
