On August 29, a roundtable discussion on "Investment Opportunities in the Tourism Sector of the Republic of Tajikistan" was held in the capital of the Russian Federation at the initiative of the Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan with the support of the Department of Multilateral Economic Cooperation and Special Projects of the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia.
The event was attended by representatives of the Committee for Tourism Development under the Government of Tajikistan, the Moscow Commission on Geographical and Recreational Tourism, as well as heads of Tajik and Russian tourism companies.
The embassy building hosted an exhibition of folk crafts, a screening of videos about Tajikistan's tourism opportunities, a display of books on the country's history, and a presentation of tourism promotional materials.
In his speech, Tajikistan's Ambassador to Russia, Davlatshoh Gulmahmadzoda, detailed government initiatives to develop tourism and the republic's rich cultural, historical, and natural resources. He emphasized the country's unique tourism potential, owing to its historical role on the Great Silk Road, its unique identity, and the diversity of its landscapes, flora, and fauna.
Representatives of Tajik tourism companies presented their tourist routes, their experience working with Russian tourists, and expressed interest in joint projects to organize mutual routes. Following the roundtable, a B2B meeting was held, resulting in the signing of four cooperation agreements between tourism companies from Tajikistan and Russia.
In addition, to promote Tajikistan's tourism opportunities, including wellness, ecotourism, and mountaineering, the embassy, in collaboration with the Russian television channels "My Planet," NTV, and the programs "Magic of Taste" and "Let's Go, Let's Eat," has developed promotional videos and is promoting the country's tourist attractions.
The event allowed Russian partners to become acquainted with Tajikistan's rich historical and cultural heritage and modern tourism potential, opening up new opportunities for bilateral cooperation in the tourism sector.
