In the city of Istaravshan in Tajikistan's Sughd Region, over 60 km of roads have been paved and overhauled over the past three months in anticipation of the republic's 35th anniversary of state independence, according to the regional governor's press service.
Local residents, entrepreneurs, and citizens planning to perform the Hajj actively participated in the street improvement work, contributing to the funding of the road construction.
According to authorities, 19 kilometers of internal roads have been paved in the village of Guli Surkh. Work is underway in almost all of the city's mahallas. Specifically, asphalt has been laid to date on 4.7 kilometers in the Vahdat mahalla, 3.5 kilometers in the Zafar mahalla, 2.2 kilometers in the Kurushkada mahalla, 2 kilometers each in the Rustambek and Navoi mahallas, 1.6 kilometers in the Ismail Somoni mahalla, 1.1 kilometers in the Ura-Tyube mahalla, and one kilometer each in the Imam Azam and Navobod mahallas.
Local authorities note that road infrastructure repair and construction work is continuing at a rapid pace, expanding to new sections of the city. Completion of the road reconstruction program is timed to coincide with the Independence Day celebrations.
