On August 5, as part of the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDC3), which is taking place in Turkmenistan, the Minister of Transport of the Republic of Tajikistan, Azim Ibrohim, met with the Director of the United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC), Dima Al-Khatib, at the Avaza National Tourist Zone, the press service of the Ministry of Transport of Tajikistan reported.
The parties discussed ways to expand cooperation between the Republic of Tajikistan and UNOSSC, including improving transport connectivity, simplifying border procedures, digital transformation, and sustainable infrastructure management.
The meeting discussed support for projects in the area of multimodal transport corridors, including the digitalization of processes and the implementation of "green" solutions; expanding technical and expert assistance in developing sustainable logistics strategies for mountainous and remote regions; creating a platform for the exchange of knowledge and best practices between LLDC countries based on the Sustainable Transport Center being established in Tajikistan; and implementing joint pilot projects, including with the involvement of the private sector and regional development institutions.
Following the meeting, a mutual understanding was reached on further strengthening coordination in the international arena.
