The UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body (CEDB) has imposed a number of sanctions against the French football club Paris Saint-Germain following the 2024/25 Champions League final against Italian side Inter, which ended with a crushing 5-0 victory for the Parisians.
The main penalty was a fine of €100,000 for causing a mass disturbance at the stadium: PSG fans ran onto the pitch and used pyrotechnics, which contravened UEFA safety and discipline regulations.
Furthermore, the club has been subject to a conditional ban on selling tickets to its fans for its next away UEFA match. This ban will be in effect for two years and will be enforced in the event of a repeat violation.
In addition, PSG was ordered to pay additional fines:
-
30 thousand euros for throwing various objects from the stands during a match;
-
10 thousand euros – for displaying a message that is not in line with the spirit of a sporting event, as well as for actions that discredit UEFA;
-
8 thousand euros for damage caused to the stadium.
The total amount of fines amounted to 148 thousand euros .
Thus, despite a convincing victory in the tournament, Paris Saint-Germain found itself at the center of a disciplinary scandal, and UEFA sent a clear signal that such behavior by fans and the club will not go unpunished.
