In Tajikistan, tens of tons of food products posing a health hazard were destroyed in 2025. Muhammadsaid Faizullozoda, head of the republic's Food Security Committee, announced this at a press conference.
According to him, eggs, honey, fruit, meat, and other products deemed unsafe were withdrawn from circulation. Specifically, 26.6 tons of meat products, 8 tons of dairy products, 721 liters of vegetable oil, 20,300 chicken eggs, and 482 kilograms of fish were destroyed during this period.
Based on the inspection results, 364 kilograms of honey, 4.1 tons of pickles, 4.7 tons of dried goods, 122 tons of fruits and vegetables, and 12 tons of dairy products were found to be of poor quality and dangerous to consumers. Sales of these products were suspended, and the items were destroyed.
To identify substandard products, employees of the Food Safety Committee conducted more than a million food product inspections at consumer markets across the republic.
Faizullozoda reported that during this period, more than 10.9 million animals and poultry were vaccinated and provided with preventive measures using vaccines and other veterinary medicines available at food safety centers.
The Committee also has a national disinfection team, which processed a total of 89.1 thousand tons, 5.2 thousand cubic meters and 400.6 thousand units of products worth a total of more than 1.4 million somoni.
