Telegram founder Pavel Durov announced the opening of an artificial intelligence lab in Kazakhstan, located in the Alem AI international center in Astana. The first project will be Telegram's collaboration with the national supercomputer cluster. He made the announcement during a plenary session of the Digital Bridge 2025 international forum.
"I am very proud to announce today the opening of an AI lab in this very building—Alem AI, the international artificial intelligence center in Astana," Durov said.
According to him, in recent months, the Telegram team has been working on a new technology that combines blockchain and artificial intelligence. This innovation, he emphasized, will allow the messenger's more than 1 billion users to access AI features generated by a decentralized computer system while maintaining privacy and transparency.
The Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development of Kazakhstan is participating in the project's launch. "The Kazakhstani supercomputer cluster will serve as the foundation for energy supply and computing processes. Our principles are transparency, efficiency, freedom of market dynamics, and privacy protection. We are able to achieve this through the release of new chips," Durov noted.
On the same day, October 2, journalists were given a tour of the Alem AI complex. Media representatives were briefed on the center's most important achievements and its goals. The official opening of Alem AI is reportedly scheduled for the coming months. The world's largest tech companies, including Google, Telegram, Yandex, and several other IT giants, will open offices in the center.
The Digital Bridge 2025 international forum, where the announcement was made, brought together representatives from over 100 countries, hundreds of companies, and leading digital technology experts in Astana. The forum focused on the prospects for the development of artificial intelligence and the implementation of innovative digital solutions.
