The opening ceremony of the 3rd Youth Forum of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) took place in the capital of Belarus on October 2. The CIS Executive Committee press service reported this.
The event aims to attract young people's attention to Eurasian integration issues, implement joint initiatives, and strengthen ties between future management professionals. The forum is attended by students, young scientists, entrepreneurs, journalists, and public association leaders from Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.
First Deputy Secretary-General of the CIS Igor Petrishenko participated in the opening ceremony. He emphasized the symbolism of beginning the forum with a visit to the Museum of the History of the Great Patriotic War and a flower-laying ceremony at the "Minsk – Hero City" memorial stele.
"The memory of the heroism of nations serves as a moral compass, and our forum is a platform for creating the future," Petrishenko said.
According to him, the high level of interaction between the CIS and EAEU structures, based on the principles of multi-level integration, can now receive new impetus thanks to the enthusiasm and innovative thinking of the forum participants.
"Our shared goal is to translate this potential into systemic projects that will deliver practical results for the citizens of our countries," he emphasized.
Igor Petrishenko noted that the Youth Forum is becoming a traditional platform, complementing events held within the framework of CIS documents. He spoke about projects aimed at engaging young people in the implementation of initiatives in various areas of interstate cooperation. These include the activities of the CIS Network University, which unites 47 leading universities from seven countries; the implementation of the international projects "Youth Capital of the CIS" and "100 Ideas for the CIS"; the holding of the 3rd CIS Games; and the work of the Russian Center for Assistance to Young Specialists, the umbrella organization for youth entrepreneurship development in the CIS member states.
"It's important for us to see the future and create platforms that will foster a community of active young citizens. Judging by the program, the organizers of the CIS and EAEU Youth Forum in Minsk have ensured that it becomes a fertile platform for discussing a wide range of pressing issues. The program covers all key areas where young people can and should become a catalyst for the practical implementation of new ideas," Petrishenko concluded.
As part of the forum, he also took part in a meeting with young people in an open dialogue format on the topic of "The Role of Youth in Integration Processes within the CIS and the EAEU."
