The death toll from the series of earthquakes that struck Venezuela has risen to 2,295, according to National Assembly Speaker Jorge Rodríguez.
According to him, 11,267 people received injuries of varying severity.
Jorge Rodriguez also reported that approximately 800 aftershocks were recorded following the main tremors. He estimates that the threat of further strong seismic events is gradually decreasing, but has not completely disappeared.
A series of earthquakes measuring 7.2, 7.5, and 4.5 magnitudes struck Venezuela last Wednesday evening local time and continued into the following morning. The most severe damage was recorded in the northern state of La Guaira.
