The Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population of Tajikistan stated that no cases of hantavirus have been registered in the country, and the risk of infection spread remains low.
The agency explained that hantaviruses are a group of viruses that spread primarily through rodents and can cause severe infectious diseases in humans.
According to the Ministry of Health, infection most often occurs through contact with the urine, saliva, or feces of infected rodents, as well as through inhalation of contaminated dust in closed spaces, basements, warehouses, and food storage areas.
The Ministry noted that official data on the spread of hantavirus in Central Asian countries, including Tajikistan, is limited. However, health authorities continue to conduct epidemiological monitoring and preventive measures.
The agency recommended that residents observe sanitary and hygienic standards, store food in closed containers, prevent rodents from entering residential and storage areas, and use masks and gloves when cleaning areas where rodents may be present.
Citizens are also advised to seek immediate medical attention if they experience high fever, muscle pain, weakness, difficulty breathing, or severe headache.
The Ministry of Health emphasized that the situation is under control and called on the public to trust only official information and not to spread unconfirmed reports.
The agency also cited data from the World Health Organization, according to which the risk of widespread hantavirus spread globally is currently assessed as low.
