Cultural events dedicated to the International Holiday of Navruz will be held in Tajikistan from March 19 to 28, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tajikistan announced.
It is noted that during these days, artistic and entertainment programs, as well as public walks and excursions dedicated to the celebration of Navruz, will be held with the participation of artists and residents of the country.
From March 19 to 26, cultural events will be held in Dushanbe's districts. Exhibitions of folk crafts are planned to showcase Navruz rituals, traditional games, festive food preparation, national clothing, as well as dances and songs prepared by residents of the capital.
On March 21, a celebratory cultural program dedicated to the holiday will be held at the Navruzgoh State Institution in Dushanbe.
With the arrival of spring, Tajik people are reportedly beginning preparations for the traditional ancestors' festival. Festive events are held in most cities, districts, and educational and cultural institutions across the country during these days.
In anticipation of the festive celebration of Navruz, the boulevards, avenues, and cultural and entertainment parks of Dushanbe are decorated. Bright flowers and shade trees have been planted, and decorative elements symbolizing spring and Navruz have been installed. Residents and visitors to the capital stroll through these parks daily.
It is noted that the Tajik people have preserved the holiday of Navruz for centuries, along with their native language, and consider it an integral part of their national identity and spiritual pride.
With the arrival of this holiday of nature, joy and happiness are felt in every home, and farmers begin sowing the future harvest with hope.
It is also reported that on February 19, 2010, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution granting Nowruz international status. In 2009, the UN Committee for the Safeguarding of the Cultural Heritage of Humanity inscribed it on UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
