The first freight train has departed along the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan-Tajikistan multimodal transport corridor. The train departed from Lanzhou Station and will continue to Dushanbe-2 Station. This was announced by the press service of the Uzbek joint-stock company UztemirYulKonteyner.
It is noted that UztemirYulKonteyner is one of the founders of the UTK International Logistics joint venture established in China, which sent a pilot train along the route connecting China with Central Asia.
As specified in the press release, the project became a practical step within the framework of agreements on deepening regional cooperation and developing ties concluded at the meeting of the presidents of Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan in Dushanbe in 2025.
The first train consists of eight forty-foot containers carrying consumer goods and construction equipment. The total route length exceeds 3,500 kilometers. The journey is expected to take no more than 18–20 days.
It is emphasized that, thanks to support for logistics initiatives from Uzbekistan Railways, tariff preferences have been established for carriers on this multimodal route. This confirms the company's readiness to organize stable and regular freight train service between China and Central Asia.
Last July, it was reported that Chinese authorities had dispatched their first train from Wuhan, Hubei Province, along the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan multimodal international freight transport route. It was then clarified that another region of China had joined the logistics network linking the country with Central Asian states.
