As of December 31, 2025, the total number of bank payment cards in Tajikistan reached 10.4 million, an increase of 23.7% compared to the same period last year. The total number of e-wallets reached 17.7 million, an increase of 46.4% compared to the same period. This was announced at a press conference by Firdavs Tolibzoda, Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan.
To provide bank cardholders with cash, credit financial institutions installed 3,453 ATMs and 4,991 electronic terminals at cash dispensing points as of the reporting date. Compared to the end of 2024, these figures increased by 14.9% and 30.8%, respectively.
In addition, 9,017 POS terminals were installed in retail and service establishments for cashless payments as of the reporting date, representing a 10.8% increase compared to 2024. Also, 28,762 QR codes were installed in retail and service establishments, representing a 44.4% increase compared to the end of 2024. The number of self-service terminals as of the reporting date amounted to 7,330 units.
In 2025, 136.0 million non-cash transactions worth 42.4 billion somoni were made using electronic payment methods—bank cards and e-wallets. Compared to 2024, the number of transactions increased by 47.1%, and the volume by 39.8%.
The ratio of cash withdrawals to non-cash payments was 70.6% to 29.4%. The share of non-cash transactions increased by 3.2 percentage points compared to last year. In December 2025 alone, the share of non-cash payments reached 38.9%, an increase of 9.4 percentage points compared to last year.
