In 2025, Tajikistan's electricity production volume will reach 23 billion 982.6 million kWh, an increase of 1 billion 554.9 million kWh, or 6.5 percent, compared to 2024. Tajikistan's Energy Minister, Daler Juma, announced this at a press conference today.
According to him, the volume of thermal energy production in 2025 amounted to 1 million 328.8 thousand Gcal, which exceeds the 2024 figure by 26.4 thousand Gcal, or 2 percent.
During the reporting period, the total volume of electricity exports amounted to 5 billion 356.1 million kWh, which is an increase of 1 billion 454.4 million kWh, or 37.3 percent, compared to 2024. Of this volume, commercial electricity exports amounted to 2 billion 666.4 million kWh worth 912.8 million somoni, including 5.1 million kWh worth 2 million somoni from Pamir Energy OJSC. Compared to 2024, this figure increased by 188 million kWh, or 7.6 percent.


Electricity was exported to Afghanistan in the amount of 1 billion 760.3 million kWh in the amount of 742.3 million somoni, to the Republic of Uzbekistan – 894.7 million kWh in the amount of 169.8 million somoni, and also to the Kyrgyz Republic – 11.5 million kWh in the amount of 1.2 million somoni.
It is noted that more than 90 percent of electricity was exported during the period of increased river water levels, that is, from April to September.
The volume of electricity imports during the reporting period amounted to 2 billion 701.9 million kWh, which is 1.1 billion kWh more, or 67 percent, compared to 2024. Of this volume, 2 billion 688 million kWh were imported from the Republic of Uzbekistan and 13.9 million kWh from the Kyrgyz Republic.
Electricity losses amounted to 3.992 billion kWh, or 15 percent, a decrease of 482 million kWh, or 3.6 percent, compared to the 2024 target. As a result of the implementation of practical measures, losses in the generation sector amounted to 0.37 percent, and in the transmission sector, 3.1 percent, which is in line with international standards. However, the level of losses in distribution networks, at 15.6 percent, still requires close attention.


Collection of funds on the domestic market amounted to 92.6 percent, or 6.5 billion somoni, which is 1.6 billion somoni, or 33 percent, more than in 2024, when the figure was 91.1 percent.
Payment collection from the population was 100 percent, amounting to 2.4 billion somoni. Payment collection from industrial and commercial consumers, excluding Tajik Aluminum Company, was 98 percent, amounting to 3.5 billion somoni.
As of December 31, 2025, the volume of accounts receivable for electricity, taking into account debt from previous years, amounted to 3 billion 634.8 million somoni. This includes debt from individuals amounting to 1 billion 161.7 million somoni, Tajik Aluminum Company OJSC – 823.8 million somoni, agricultural enterprises and farms – 246.1 million somoni, the Agency for Land Reclamation and Irrigation – 279.7 million somoni, and other enterprises – 1 billion 123.6 million somoni.
