The Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Tajikistan expressed gratitude to the republic's authorities for their assistance in transporting and hospitalizing Chinese workers injured in attacks originating from Afghanistan, the press service of the Ministry of Transport of Tajikistan reported.
According to the Ministry of Transport of Tajikistan, Sun He, Counselor for Trade and Economic Affairs at the Chinese Embassy, made this statement during a meeting with Azim Ibrokhim, Minister of Transport of the Republic of Tajikistan. During the talks, the comprehensive support provided to employees of the Chinese company China Road & Bridge Corporation was noted.
As a reminder, five Chinese road workers were killed and five others were injured in two attacks carried out from Afghanistan.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the current status and prospects of bilateral cooperation in transport infrastructure. Sun He reported that the projects for the construction of the Murghab-Kulma highway, the overpasses at the intersection of Abay and A. Kakhhorov, A. Jomi and A. Kakhhorov, and Yuzhnaya and A. Kakhhorov streets, and the bridge across the Dushanbe River at the intersection of Yuzhnaya and A. Kakhhorov streets in Dushanbe have completed the internal approval process in the People's Republic of China.
According to him, specialists from both sides are continuing to work together to prepare and provide technical information and other necessary relevant materials. A group of Chinese specialists is expected to arrive in Tajikistan in early 2026 to further implement these projects.
Transport Minister Azim Ibrahim, in turn, emphasized the importance of implementing the 67-kilometer Murghab-Kulma highway construction project, costing $78 million, three two-level roads (overpasses) and a road bridge in Dushanbe, costing $58 million, as well as the Kulma checkpoint reconstruction project, estimated at $21.9 million.
