A presentation of the draft Environmental Code of the Republic of Tajikistan was held in Dushanbe, according to the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the country.
Isfandiyor Shukurzoda, First Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Protection, emphasized that the project was developed based on the country's key strategic planning documents, including the Concept of Legal Policy of the Republic of Tajikistan for 2018–2028, the National Development Strategy of the Country until 2030, the Medium-Term Development Program of the Republic of Tajikistan for 2021–2025, and the State Environmental Program for 2023–2028.
It was noted that on September 17, 2025, during a meeting with environmental protection officials, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon instructed that the draft Environmental Code be submitted to the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan for approval in the first half of 2026.
The adoption of the Environmental Code will ensure a unified state environmental policy in the country, taking into account climate change, biodiversity loss, glacier protection, the development of a green economy, digitalization, the use of artificial intelligence, and other priority areas.
