A roundtable discussion dedicated to the official launch of the "Comprehensive Services for Mothers and Children" project (additional funding) was held in Dushanbe. The Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Republic of Tajikistan reported this.

The project has been implemented in the pilot districts of Rasht, Faizabad, and Shamsiddin Shokhin since 2019. In 2024, an agreement was signed between the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Asian Development Bank to provide additional financing for this project. Funds were also raised for initiatives to reconstruct the healthcare system in other districts, including Darvaz, Dangara, and Ayni.
The Ministry notes that significant work has been carried out in the country to develop the healthcare system, construct and renovate medical facilities, and improve the health literacy of the population. Expanding cooperation between the Government of Tajikistan and the Asian Development Bank, particularly in the implementation of the "Comprehensive Maternal and Child Services" project, is seen as one of the government's practical initiatives to preserve the health of the population, particularly women and children.
During the roundtable, the schedule for implementing the additional funding project was discussed. The project implementation team was given specific assignments and instructions.
The project's main goals are to renovate medical facilities and equip them with modern equipment and technology, reform the healthcare sector, improve public health literacy, and strengthen public relations with medical institutions. Based on this, it is planned to address service gaps, including the prevention of home births.
The project includes the construction of a 6,200 square meter maternity ward with 80 beds in the Dangara District, a 5,356 square meter Central Hospital with 100 beds in the Darvaz District, and a 40-bed maternity ward in the Ayni District. Upon completion, the facilities in the pilot districts will be equipped with modern equipment and necessary materials.
