Over 12,000 facilities have been built in Sughd Region, and the action plan for the celebration of the 35th anniversary of Tajikistan's state independence has been completed. This was reported by the regional executive authorities' press service.
The celebration of the 35th anniversary of Tajikistan's state independence is planned for September 2026 and will take place on a particularly grand scale.
To properly celebrate this historic event, construction and improvement work has been actively underway since 2022 under the leadership and initiative of President Emomali Rahmon. As part of these efforts, projects aimed at improving living conditions are being implemented.
More than four years later, the executive authorities of the Sughd region reported the completion of the construction plan for the 35th anniversary of independence. During this period, with the participation of government agencies, entrepreneurs, investors, and the region's hardworking residents, more than 12,000 different facilities were built, repaired, and modernized.
According to government officials, this isn't the final result. A new plan has already been prepared, according to which approximately 2,000 more facilities will be built in 18 cities and districts of the region by September 2026.
In the cities and districts of the region, special attention is paid to the construction of schools and kindergartens, since the development of the education system and the creation of favorable conditions for the education of children and youth is one of the priority areas of social policy of the state and government.
During the first stage, 60 kindergartens and 73 schools were built in the cities and districts of the Sughd region, while construction of additional buildings and classrooms continues.
The construction of educational institutions is financed by the state budget, with the support of international partners, entrepreneurs, and philanthropists. Once the facilities are operational, existing problems, including the shortage of places in educational institutions, will be resolved, and preschool enrollment will increase significantly.
Rapid population growth annually increases society's need for preschool education. In response to this situation, the Sughd Region continues to build preschool institutions and create alternative forms of preschool education. Implementing these measures will help meet the National Education Development Strategy's target of achieving 50% preschool enrollment by 2030.
For example, in the Gorno-Matchinsky district, where preschool enrollment was previously challenging, construction began on 10 kindergartens this year. In other cities and districts, local authorities, together with businesses and residents, are also implementing kindergarten construction projects.
