The 38th meeting of the Council for Cooperation in Healthcare of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) began today in Dushanbe, reports NIAT Khovar.
The event brought together representatives of healthcare institutions and medical organizations from all CIS countries.
Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan Dilrabo Mansuri expressed gratitude to the event participants and emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation in the field of healthcare to ensure the well-being of the population of the Commonwealth countries.
CIS Secretary-General Sergei Lebedev noted that strengthening healthcare systems in CIS countries is a strategic priority for each member of the organization.
The importance of exchanging experiences in the field of healthcare in the international arena was emphasized.
One of the key points was the discussion of the results of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Republic of Tajikistan's chairmanship of the CIS Healthcare Cooperation Council in 2025. In this context, attention was focused on the successful implementation of programs aimed at improving primary health care (PHC), as well as significant progress in the fight against infectious diseases and the development of preventive measures.
Participants presented their innovative solutions aimed at improving primary healthcare services. CIS countries demonstrated a high level of engagement in these areas, with a focus on improving citizens' quality of life and ensuring equal access to healthcare.
One of the key topics discussed was the "Year of Health" project, which is planned to be held in the CIS countries in 2026. This event is expected to be a significant milestone in the development of the region's healthcare systems, ensuring deeper integration of all countries' efforts in combating disease and promoting healthy lifestyles.
Particular attention will be paid to the prevention and control of dangerous diseases such as diabetes, cancer, and tuberculosis. The following topics were discussed during the meeting:
– Clinical guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of diabetes mellitus, with an emphasis on the use of artificial intelligence to improve the diagnosis and treatment of this disease.
– Oncological disease trends in the CIS countries before and after COVID-19, as well as a draft Action Plan for the implementation of the Concept of Cooperation in the Field of Oncology for 2027-2031.
– Problems of the spread of tuberculosis in the CIS countries and the draft Joint Action Plan for its prevention in 2026-2030.
The meeting plans to consider draft guidelines for epidemiological surveillance and cholera prevention, as well as issues related to the organization of medical care in emergency situations.
It was noted that healthcare systems in CIS countries are actively transforming using the latest technologies, including artificial intelligence and digital solutions, which improve the quality of medical services and enhance the efficiency of healthcare workers.
Participants will also discuss the status of basic healthcare organizations in the CIS.
