A scientific and practical conference, "The Role of Artificial Intelligence in Creating New Opportunities for Sustainable Development in Central Asia," was held in the Shugnan district of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region, according to the Center for Strategic Studies under the President of Tajikistan.
The event was organized in accordance with the Action Plan of the Executive Body of State Authority of GBAO, the Council of the Public Movement "National Unity and Revival of Tajikistan" and the administration of the Shugnan district.
Participants discussed the prospects for applying artificial intelligence in industry, agriculture, transport, and energy, as well as its role in improving the efficiency of raw material use and the production of competitive products.
"Today, artificial intelligence opens up vast opportunities for the socioeconomic development of countries in the region and for solving pressing problems," it was noted during the conference.
Jurakhon Boboev, Head of the Department for Analysis and Forecasting of the Sectoral Economy at the Center for Strategic Research, emphasized that Tajik President Emomali Rahmon's initiatives in the area of digitalization and artificial intelligence development are of global significance and a source of national pride.
As a reminder, on July 25, 2025, the UN General Assembly unanimously adopted a resolution, "The Role of Artificial Intelligence in Creating New Opportunities for Sustainable Development in Central Asia," initiated by Tajikistan. In this regard, the government of the republic approved state plans and programs, including the "Strategy for the Development of Artificial Intelligence through 2040."
The conference in Shugnan marked another step in developing the country's scientific and strategic potential towards achieving national goals and ensuring sustainable development.
