A meeting of the expert group to coordinate the draft Concept of Military Cooperation of the Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States until 2030 took place on September 30 at the CIS headquarters, the press service of the Organization's Executive Committee reported.
The meeting was attended by representatives of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Russia, Tajikistan, the Secretariat of the Council of Defence Ministers and the Commonwealth Executive Committee.
During the meeting, experts reviewed comments received from states on the draft Concept and, based on the discussions, revised and agreed upon the document. It will be submitted, in accordance with established procedure, to the next meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
It should be noted that the draft Concept of Military Cooperation defines, for the medium term, a set of agreed views of the CIS member states on the goals, principles, most important tasks, mechanisms, and main areas of cooperation in the military sphere.
The provisions of the document ensure the continuity of multilateral military cooperation between the Commonwealth countries and its further development as an integrated system based on the improvement of organizational and legal mechanisms, the development of promising programs and projects for joint activities, and the implementation of practical interaction in both traditional and new relevant areas.
