On September 29, 2025, a briefing following the meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the Commonwealth of Independent States was held in Minsk. The meeting was attended by the Chairman of the Council, Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan Kokhir Rasulzoda, and CIS Secretary-General Sergey Lebedev, according to the press service of the CIS Executive Committee.
The meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), chaired by Tajikistan in Minsk, reaffirmed the parties' commitment to further developing cooperation. This was stated by Tajik Prime Minister Kokhir Rasulzoda to journalists following the meeting.
"The meeting of the heads of government took place in our traditionally constructive and businesslike atmosphere, which once again confirmed the commitment of the CIS member states to expanding and deepening mutually beneficial cooperation," he said.
Kokhir Rasulzoda reported that the parties had a substantive and meaningful exchange of views on a wide range of pressing issues of cooperation between CIS countries. Furthermore, the meeting participants approved strategies in various areas, including scientific and technological cooperation for 2026-2035, the development of the information society and digital economy until 2035, and the digitalization of key multimodal transport corridors.
"A separate section was devoted to the development prospects of strategically important sectors such as agriculture, healthcare, and innovative cooperation. The decisions and documents adopted create a solid regulatory and institutional foundation for further advancing integration processes in these areas," the Prime Minister of Tajikistan emphasized.
Kokhir Rasulzoda noted that the parties also signed agreements and conceptual documents aimed at strengthening the legal framework for cooperation in construction and implementing the economic cooperation strategy until 2030. He expressed confidence that the agreements reached in Minsk "will provide additional impetus to the realization of our shared goals for the benefit of the peoples of the Commonwealth."
Sergei Lebedev also spoke about the successful chairmanship of the Republic of Tajikistan in the CIS this year.
"Many important events have been held in Tajikistan and abroad. But the year isn't over; we still have three months to go. In 10 days, Dushanbe will host this year's main forum under the chairmanship of the Republic of Tajikistan—a meeting of the Council of Heads of State, on the eve of the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers. Furthermore, a meeting of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly will be held in November. A meeting of the CIS Economic Council is planned. Not to mention the numerous meetings of sectoral councils that will be held in October and November in Tajikistan. I am pleased to say that all speakers noted the successful chairmanship of the Republic of Tajikistan. We are in constant communication, and we feel the support of the leadership of the Republic of Tajikistan, which was facilitated by the successful meeting of the CIS Economic Council in Dushanbe. Therefore, we have no doubt that the concept of the Republic of Tajikistan's chairmanship, announced at the end of last year and calling for improving our activities and increasing efficiency, will be successfully implemented by the end of the year," he added.
