The cotton harvest continues in earnest in Sughd Region. As of September 26, 44,975.1 tons of cotton had been harvested, representing 34.3% of the annual plan, according to the regional administration's press service.
The harvest is underway in all cities and districts of the region's cotton-growing zones. According to current data, the figures for districts and cities are as follows: Asht district – 4,507.2 tons (32.5%), Bobojon Gafurov district – 6,041.8 tons (33.1%), Jabbor Rasulov district – 4,742.8 tons (37.9%), Zafarabad district – 7,804.2 tons (24%), the city of Kanibadam – 3,901.8 tons (31.1%), Matcha district – 12,093.7 tons (44.2%), Spitamen district – 5,883.7 tons (41.2%).
More than 55,000 agricultural shareholders and workers participate in the cotton harvest daily. The cotton production target for Sughd Region for 2025 is set at 131,300 tons.
Timely and careful harvesting provides textile factories with raw materials, promotes the creation of new jobs, and promotes the development of light industry in the region. A successful cotton harvest also strengthens the region's economic stability and supports social employment.
