The first China-Central Asia Special Forces Police Skills Competition opened in the capital of China's Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, Xinhua reported, citing the official website of the Ministry of Public Security.
The competition was attended by 80 special forces personnel from China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.
According to the Chinese Ministry of Internal Affairs, the goal of the competition is to strengthen cooperation between law enforcement agencies of the region's countries, build their professional capacity, and develop joint efforts to counter terrorism, transnational crime, and ensure regional security.
Participants demonstrate skills in seven disciplines, including tactical training, driving, obstacle course control, rope ascent and descent, first aid, and other elements of professional training.
The department noted that bilateral and multilateral cooperation between China and the Central Asian states in law enforcement has been developing dynamically in recent years. This cooperation encompasses counterterrorism, drug control, cybersecurity, and combating transnational organized crime.
