World Water Week was held in Stockholm, Sweden, from August 24 to 28. A delegation from Tajikistan, led by First Deputy Minister of Energy and Water Resources Jamshed Shoimzoda, participated in the event, the ministry's press service reported.
At the initiative of the Tajik side, an exhibition stand was organized as part of the event, presenting Tajikistan's policies and practices in integrated water resources management. Particular attention was paid to the country's global initiatives, including glacier conservation, as well as preparations for the Fourth Dushanbe Conference on the International Decade for Action, "Water for Sustainable Development, 2018–2028."
During World Water Week, a meeting of the International Advisory Committee of the Dushanbe Water Process was held to discuss the goals, objectives, and roadmap for the upcoming conference in Dushanbe.
In addition, at the initiative of the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of Tajikistan, jointly with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan, the High-Level Panel of Experts and Leaders on Water and Disasters (HELP), and the United Nations Centre for Regional Development (UNCRD)/UNDESA, a high-level session entitled “Water and Disasters: From Glacier to Sea” was held.
Speaking at the event, Jamshed Shoimzoda presented the results of the High-Level International Conference on Glacier Conservation, which took place in Dushanbe from 29 to 31 May 2025. He emphasized that its conclusions and recommendations formed an important basis for shaping international policy on glacier melting, strengthening cooperation, and preparing for the 2026 UN Water Conference .
Tajikistan's active participation in World Water Week in Stockholm, according to organizers, once again confirmed the country's key role in promoting global initiatives to preserve glaciers, develop regional cooperation, and sustainably manage water resources.
