Police officers in Dushanbe detained a citizen involved in the illegal sale of the psychotropic drug Pregabalin (Lyrica), the city's Ministry of Internal Affairs reported .
Rustam Zarifov, a 56-year-old Moscow resident, was distributing a potent substance without a prescription or doctor's order for financial gain. During an investigative operation and a search, 300 units of the drug were seized from him.
An administrative protocol was drawn up against the detainee under Article 128 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Tajikistan . The case materials have been submitted to the court for appropriate action.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs noted that despite a strict ban on the use and sale of psychotropic drugs without a doctor's prescription, some citizens continue to use them for short-term pleasure, and unscrupulous dealers continue to sell them illegally.
Law enforcement agencies urge the public to comply with the law and report any instances of illegal trafficking of potent substances.
