The Minister of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan, Zavqizoda Zavqi Amin, met with the newly appointed Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Tajikistan, Sudipto Mukherjee. This was reported by the ministry's press service.
Zavqizoda congratulated the diplomat on his new assignment in Tajikistan and wished him success in implementing his new initiatives. He noted that, thanks to the policies of President Emomali Rahmon and cooperation with UNDP, the country has achieved significant socioeconomic results and sustainability in implementing its strategic priorities and the Sustainable Development Goals. He added that despite external challenges, the country's economic growth rate has averaged 8.5 percent over the past four years.
The Minister emphasized UNDP's role as a reliable partner for Tajikistan in areas such as intellectual capacity development, strategic planning, the national monitoring and evaluation system, and support for the preparation of the Voluntary National Review (VNR) and Voluntary Local Review (VLR). Particular attention was paid to the development of the Medium-Term Development Program for 2026–2030.
The parties noted that the new UNDP Country Programme for Tajikistan will be aligned with national goals and priorities, including the long-term National Development Strategy until 2030.
At the end of the meeting, the parties confirmed their readiness to further strengthen cooperation, including mobilizing financial resources, coordinating the activities of the Development Partners Council, attracting donor assistance, and implementing national sustainable development programs.
