On August 18, a working meeting between the Minister of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan, Zavqi Zavqizoda, and the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Tajikistan, Guo Zhijun, was held in Dushanbe. The main topic of discussion was expanding and deepening trade and economic cooperation between the two countries, according to the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan.
Minister Zavqizoda emphasized that the strategic partnership between Tajikistan and China is steadily developing thanks to the wise policies of both countries' presidents, Emomali Rahmon and Xi Jinping. "In the first six months of 2025, bilateral trade turnover between Tajikistan and China increased by 37 percent, reaching $1.2 billion," the minister noted.
The meeting also discussed attracting Chinese investment and implementing key national initiatives. Specifically, Zavqizoda presented 13 priority investment projects, the launch of which will stimulate economic cooperation and create new business opportunities and jobs in Tajikistan.
The parties expressed their readiness to continue active dialogue and ensure the timely implementation of planned projects, which will be an important step in strengthening trade and economic ties between Tajikistan and China.
