Approximately 30 employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan were dismissed in 2024 for failing to meet established weight requirements. This was reported to journalists by Hussein Khalilzoda, Head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs' Human Resources and Personnel Management Department.
According to him, last year, approximately 20,000 Ministry of Internal Affairs employees underwent physical fitness screenings, including weight checks. "More than 26 people were dismissed for being overweight, but they were given a certain period of time to lose weight. If they meet the established standards, they will be able to return to service," Khalilzoda noted.
As a result, 13 police officers managed to normalize their weight and were reinstated. The rest, he said, have not yet met the physical fitness and health requirements.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic emphasizes that maintaining proper physical fitness is one of the mandatory conditions of service in the internal affairs agencies, along with professional skills and moral and business qualities.
