Today, Khatlon Region Governor Davlatali Said met with Lu Bing, Director of CNPC SA in Tajikistan. This was reported by the press service of the Khatlon Region Governor.
During the meeting, it was noted that the Khatlon region has established good bilateral relations with reputable companies in the People's Republic of China, and it was emphasized that relations between Tajikistan and China are currently developing rapidly.
The regional chairman emphasized that strengthening and expanding working ties with Chinese companies is a priority for the region's foreign economic activity. He also noted interest in building long-term relationships that will facilitate the effective use of Khatlon Region's potential.



In November 2024, CNPC reportedly completed 1,200 kilometers of 2D seismic surveys in the region. Currently, specialists are focused on processing and interpreting the acquired data using modern equipment. Highly qualified specialists from China are being brought in to implement the project, creating over 1,000 jobs in the Khatlon region. Continuing education courses have been organized for local personnel. Investment in the project is estimated at approximately $60 million.
After data processing and interpretation are complete, the company plans to conduct 3D seismic surveys in potential areas to confirm the locations of future wells. This project is noted to be the most complex technical undertaking overseas in CNPC's history.
CNPC is implementing an oil and gas production project in the Bokhtar region of Tajikistan. It holds a license to explore mineral resources in the country and is conducting research for the project. The oil and gas industry is a vital part of Tajikistan's fuel and energy complex and plays a significant role in meeting the population's needs for petroleum products and other fuels.
During the meeting, the parties also discussed the development of relations and held talks on strengthening industrial production.
