Preparatory work has begun in Dushanbe on the site of a future industrial park, which is being developed as part of Russian-Tajik cooperation. This was announced by Tajikistan's Minister of Industry and New Technologies, Sherali Kabir, at a press conference in Dushanbe.
According to the minister, work is underway on the site of a former machine-building plant. Several Tajik companies have already begun renovating the premises and delivering high-tech equipment to launch production. One of the first projects will be the production of world-class medical equipment.
"We're no longer waiting for the project's official launch. Although the Russian side is still in the design and approval phase, we, together with the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, are actively preparing the site. A pool of 14 Tajik companies has already been formed, ready to launch production operations in the future technology park," noted Sherali Kabir.
He emphasized that work on developing an investment agreement is ongoing and has already been submitted to the Tajik government for review. The document is expected to be signed in the coming months.
The Bashkortostan Development Corporation, a Russian entity with experience in similar projects, will manage the industrial park in Dushanbe. Furthermore, Tajikistan plans to leverage successful technology park development practices from Tatarstan, particularly the model of Kazan's Khimgrad.
About the project:
An intergovernmental agreement on the creation of an industrial park in Dushanbe was signed in March 2025 during Tajik President Emomali Rahmon's official visit to Moscow. The document laid the foundations for the creation of a joint industrial site focused on high-tech manufacturing.
As previously reported by Sulton Rahimzoda, Chairman of the State Committee on Investments and State Property Management of Tajikistan, priority areas will be light industry, machine tool manufacturing, and the production of medical equipment, but expansion into other sectors is not ruled out.
Design and estimate documentation for the industrial park must be developed by the end of 2025. Construction and installation work is planned to begin in 2026.
The park's creation is taking place under agreements signed in May 2024 between the Russian-Tajik Business Council, Khimgrad JSC, the Middle Urals Development Corporation JSC, and the Association of Industrial Parks of Russia. Similar joint Russian industrial projects are already being implemented in the CIS countries—in particular, the Chirchik and Jizzakh technology parks, created with Khimgrad's participation, are successfully operating in Uzbekistan.
