Tajikistan has seen a decline in liquefied gas imports amid an increase in the number of electric vehicles, according to the Antimonopoly Service under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan.
According to official data, 176,900 tons of liquefied gas were imported into the republic in the first half of 2025, 18,500 tons less than the same period last year. The average cost of one ton of imported liquefied gas this year was $685, virtually unchanged from the same period in 2024 ($681).
In the supply structure, the main exporting countries of liquefied gas remain Russia (53.1%) and Kazakhstan (46.9%). Supplies were carried out through 15 companies, the largest of which were: Temur Oil LLC – 27.8% of the total volume;
Allat LLC — 15.1%; Gazpromneft-Tajikistan LLC — 9.6%.
At the same time, the Ministry of Transport of Tajikistan reported that the volume of electric vehicle imports is growing. In 2024, approximately 18,000 electric vehicles were imported into the country, and in the first five months of this year alone, nearly 13,000 units were imported. Thus, as of June 1, 2025, the total number of electric vehicles in the country exceeded 34,000.
According to experts, the population's transition to electric vehicles is having a significant impact on the liquefied gas market, reducing demand for this type of fuel and stimulating the development of electric transport infrastructure in the republic.
