On June 4, the Second Session of the Termez Dialogue on Central and South Asian Connectivity, titled "Peace, Connectivity, and Resilience: Building a Foundation for Shared Prosperity," was held in Tashkent, according to the Center for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan.
The forum was attended by more than 150 representatives of political, business, and expert circles, as well as international and regional organizations from Central and South Asia, Europe, the CIS, the South Caucasus, the Asia-Pacific region, the Middle East, and the Americas.
Tajikistan was represented at the event by Oraz Murtazozoda, First Deputy Director of the Center for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan.
The forum included a plenary session, thematic sessions, and expert and academic discussions on current issues in developing interregional cooperation. Participants focused on the prospects for expanding trade and economic ties, developing transport and logistics corridors, and deepening energy cooperation as important factors in strengthening the economic interconnectedness of Central and South Asian states.
On the sidelines of the forum, Oraz Murtazozoda met with Eldor Aripov, Director of the Institute for Strategic and Interregional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The main outcome of the negotiations was the signing of a Memorandum on the establishment of the Tajik-Uzbek Expert Council between the Center for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Institute for Strategic and Interregional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
It is noted that the creation of a new cooperation mechanism is aimed at elevating the interaction between the two countries' analytical centers to a qualitatively new level, ensuring its sustainable, systemic, and institutional nature.
The Tajik-Uzbek Expert Council will become a permanent platform for developing practical recommendations for further strengthening the allied relations between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
It is planned to involve representatives of relevant ministries and departments, research institutes, higher education institutions, and business circles of the two countries in the work of the council.
According to the provisions of the memorandum, the parties will regularly exchange scientific and analytical materials and publications, provide mutual information support, organize conferences, roundtables, expert consultations, and implement joint research projects on issues of mutual interest.
