Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that the country's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei is not appearing in public for security reasons and in accordance with the recommendations of relevant authorities.
The Iranian foreign minister made this statement in an interview with the Lebanese television channel Al-Mayadeen. He stated that despite the lack of public appearances, the Supreme Leader is actively involved in governing the country and influences developments in the country.
"He is very closely involved in the country's affairs and influences its developments while holding the reins of power. However, for security reasons, the relevant authorities advise against his frequent public appearances," Araghchi stated.
The minister also noted that the Iranian government maintains constant communication with the Supreme Leader.
Earlier, Mazaher Hosseini, the head of protocol at the Supreme Leader's Office, announced that Mojtaba Khamenei's health was improving. He had previously been diagnosed with a back injury, a knee injury, and a laceration behind his ear.
Mojtaba Khamenei assumed the post of Supreme Leader following the death of his father, Ali Khamenei. Ali Khamenei reportedly died on the first day of US and Israeli airstrikes on Iran, which began on February 28.
The new Supreme Leader was elected to the highest state office on the night of March 9. Since then, he has not appeared in public, but his press service has repeatedly issued appeals and messages in his name.
