The annual student film festival "Colors of the Native Land" has opened at the Russian-Tajik (Slavic) University in Dushanbe. This year's event, timed to coincide with the 35th anniversary of Tajikistan's independence and the university's 30th anniversary, focused on family and family values, according to the press service of the CIS Executive Committee.
Festival participants present their works in various genres. The films will be judged by a professional jury consisting of directors, actors, and screenwriters.
As Sanoat Azizova, head of the Art Creative creative association, noted, the film festival was a significant event for the university's cultural studies community. She explained that the choice of the theme of family and family values aligns with the anniversaries celebrated in the country and at the university this year.
She emphasized that the university is an extended family for its students and faculty, just as the country is for its citizens. According to Azizova, the festival participants sought to address important social issues through personal stories that foster a sense of civic responsibility, patriotism, and love for the world around them in young people.
Students also shared their impressions of the festival. Sultan Khaziev, a fourth-year student at the Russian-Tajik (Slavic) University and a winner of one of the previous festivals, said that this year he is helping aspiring participants navigate the world of cinema and explore new creative fields.
He also wished the debutants success and a successful performance at the current festival.
The "Colors of the Native Land" festival is organized by the "Art Creative" creative association of the Russian-Tajik (Slavic) University. The event will last three days.
