In 2025, 22,419 doctors and 64,909 mid-level medical specialists worked in Tajikistan's healthcare facilities, representing an increase of 1.9% and 2.3%, respectively, compared to the previous year. This was announced by Jamoliddin Abdullozoda, Minister of Health and Social Protection of the Republic of Tajikistan, during a press conference.
The Minister noted that one of the priority areas of activity is increasing the provision of healthcare institutions with specialist doctors.
"According to preliminary data, the staffing levels for physicians and nurses are 94.3% and 99.7%, respectively, which is 0.8% and 0.1% higher than the previous year. During the reporting period, 24,579 specialists completed postgraduate training at specialized institutions abroad, which is 9,571 more than in the same period last year (15,008 people). The number of medical specialists who passed certification is 6,564 more (10,050) than in the previous year (5,514)," Jamoliddin Abdullozoda reported.



It was reported that the number of students in the 2025-2026 academic year at the Avicenna Tajik State Medical University was 13,860, at the Khatlon State Medical University – 2,875, at the Tajik National University – 5,759, and at the Tajik Medical and Social Institute – 4,417. In total, the number of students was 26,911, which is 2,738 more than the previous year (24,173).
In the 2025–2026 academic year, 80,000 students were studying in medical colleges of the republic, which is 7,240 people more than in the 2024–2025 academic year (72,760 people).
