Tajikistan's Ministry of Health and Social Protection has denied an audio recording circulating on WhatsApp about the alleged activities of a "group of unknown doctors" who, according to the author of the message, are going door-to-door and spreading a dangerous disease.
The agency stated that this information is untrue. It noted that an audio message has been circulating on WhatsApp for several days, misleading citizens and causing unfounded anxiety.
The ministry explained that in the recording, an unidentified woman claims that individuals posing as doctors in Tajikistan are visiting people's homes under the guise of health checks, thereby spreading the infection. Furthermore, the audio recording claims a "state of emergency" has been declared in several regions of the country.
The Ministry of Health categorically denied this information, emphasizing that there are no unknown groups of doctors in the republic, and that the disseminated reports are false and provocative.
The ministry also noted that the spread of such rumors is aimed at misinforming the public and creating a disturbing atmosphere.
At the same time, the ministry clarified that family doctors and primary care providers can indeed conduct door-to-door visits. Such visits are part of their official duties, including immunizations, monitoring of pregnant women, and other tasks. The Ministry of Health emphasized that residents generally know their local doctors well.
The Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population of Tajikistan once again called on citizens not to trust false rumors and, if questions related to medical care arise, to promptly contact their local healthcare facility.
