A meeting was held in Dushanbe between Khurshed Karimzoda, Head of the Customs Service under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, and Nodir Musamukhamedov, Deputy Chairman of the Customs Committee under the Ministry of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan. This was reported by NIAT Khovar, citing the Customs Service under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan.
During the meeting, important issues of bilateral customs cooperation between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan were discussed. The parties discussed the procedure for determining customs value, the application of import duties, the use of a reserve valuation method, as well as the development of digitalization and electronic data exchange.
Khurshed Karimzoda emphasized the high level of interstate relations between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan, describing them as fraternal and strategic. He noted that current customs valuation methods apply to all goods, regardless of their country of origin, and are not directed against any party.
The meeting participants focused on the implementation of advance notification mechanisms and the development of electronic interactions for transit goods, as well as goods and vehicles transported by individuals for non-commercial purposes. It was noted that the implementation of these measures will facilitate the simplification of customs procedures, reduce clearance times, and increase process transparency.
Following the negotiations, the parties agreed to establish a joint working group, as well as to strengthen electronic interaction, information exchange, and operational coordination between the responsible agencies.
At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed confidence that the agreements reached would contribute to strengthening constructive dialogue, increasing the level of mutual trust and the effectiveness of customs cooperation in the interests of both countries.
