Forbes magazine has released its 40th ranking of the world's richest people. The list includes a record 3,428 individuals, 400 more than last year. As in the previous year, Tesla and SpaceX founder Elon Musk topped the list. His net worth increased by $497 billion over the year, reaching $839 billion.
The top 10 richest people in the world include:
- Elon Musk – $839 billion.
- Google co-founder and former CEO Larry Page, with $257 billion, moved up from seventh place.
- Google co-founder and former Alphabet president Sergey Brin, worth $237 billion, rose from eighth place.
- Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, with a net worth of $224 billion, fell from third place.
- Meta founder Mark Zuckerberg, with $222 billion, fell from second place.
- Oracle founder and co-owner Larry Ellison, with $190 billion, fell from fourth place.
- LVMH Moet Hennessy-Louis Vuitton Chairman and CEO Bernard Arnault and family, worth $171 billion, fell to fifth place.
- Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, with $154 billion, moved up from sixteenth place.
- Investor Warren Buffett, with $149 billion, fell from sixth place.
- Amancio Ortega, founder of the retailer Zara and the textile concern Inditex, with a net worth of $148 billion, fell from ninth place.
The combined wealth of all billionaires on the list reached a record $20.1 trillion, up $4 trillion from last year. The United States has the largest number of billionaires—a record 989. China follows with 610 billionaires and India with 229.
