On March 13, 2026, on the sidelines of the Third Forum of Rectors of Higher Education Institutions of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan, which is taking place at the Tajik State Pedagogical University named after Sadriddin Aini, a meeting was held between the Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Tajikistan, Rahim Saidzoda, and the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Kungratboy Sharipov. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Education and Science of Tajikistan.
During the meeting, the parties discussed expanding bilateral cooperation in education and science, developing ties between universities in the two countries, implementing joint educational programs, expanding student and faculty exchanges, and implementing joint research projects.



Rahim Saidzoda welcomed the Uzbek guests and emphasized that relations between the two countries in education and science have entered a qualitatively new stage.
He noted that the signing of intergovernmental agreements, the creation of joint faculties, the implementation of academic exchange programs, and the expansion of direct cooperation between universities confirm the strengthening of scientific and educational ties between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
It was emphasized that the basis for expanding friendly relations and effective cooperation between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan in various fields, including education and science, is the policy of the heads of the two states – President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.


It was noted that, thanks to the initiative and political will of the leaders of the two countries, bilateral relations have entered a new stage of development, and cooperation in science, education, culture, and other important areas has expanded.
It was also noted that the Republic of Uzbekistan is one of the important partners of the Republic of Tajikistan in the field of education and science, and universities in Tajikistan regularly sign new cooperation agreements with higher education institutions in Uzbekistan.
In turn, the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan expressed satisfaction with the high level of cooperation between the two countries in the field of education and emphasized that expanding interaction between universities in Tajikistan and Uzbekistan is important for strengthening scientific ties, exchanging experience and implementing joint educational programs.
The parties expressed confidence that holding the next Rectors' Forum will contribute to the further strengthening of scientific and educational ties, the development of human capital, and the training of highly qualified specialists for the sustainable development of the two countries.
