A complex neurosurgical operation was successfully performed in Tajikistan for the first time, according to the press service of the Ministry of Health of Tajikistan.
Improving the level and quality of healthcare services for the population and ensuring citizens' access to modern diagnostic and treatment methods are among the priorities of the state leadership and the Government of Tajikistan. Important and timely measures are being consistently implemented in this area.
Diseases associated with brain tumors, due to their location in vital structures of the cranial cavity that affect human life, are considered one of the most complex problems in world medicine.
In the neurosurgery department of the State Institution "National Medical Center of Tajikistan "Shifobakhsh", for the first time in the country, a complex microsurgical operation was successfully performed using a modern microscope using the transcallosal method – the removal of a colloid cyst of the floor of the third ventricle of the brain.

The operation was performed by the country's leading neurosurgeons: Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Khurshed Jamshed Rakhmonzoda and Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor Narzullo Odina Rahimzoda.
According to medical experts, surgery to remove a colloid cyst of the floor of the third ventricle is among the most complex due to the location of this area in one of the deepest structures of the brain. Anatomically, this area is also considered one of the vital centers of the human body.
According to scientific literature, a colloid cyst in the human brain can be congenital—a person can be born with this condition, and later in life, the likelihood of its development can significantly increase.
Until now, such patients in the Republic of Tajikistan have received only palliative treatment, primarily by reducing intracranial pressure. This treatment was temporary and did not completely eliminate the disease.
Following surgery, the patient did not experience any neurological symptoms, such as impairment or insufficiency of physical and work activity, and the existing defect was completely eliminated.
Thanks to the microsurgical method, patients can be discharged home after just three to four days in the hospital.

It is noted that the modern equipment—the microscope used for the operation—is equipped with a large screen, which allows it to be used for training young doctors.
This complex surgical procedure became possible after specialists completed training courses in a number of developed countries, including the United States, Russia, the Islamic Republic of Iran, and other countries, as well as thanks to the use of modern medical equipment.
Neurosurgery is considered one of the most complex areas of medicine, where diagnosis and treatment of patients require a high level of knowledge, skills, and professional experience from doctors.
In recent years, thanks to the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan's focus on healthcare development, domestic neurosurgery specialists have achieved significant results. The implementation of a new surgical method in this field demonstrates the development of this branch of medicine in the Republic of Tajikistan.
