In Sanya, Hainan Province, the China Media Corporation held a series of roundtable discussions titled "Our Common Home." The event brought together global experts to discuss protecting humanity's shared home amid rising geopolitical tensions. The event was co-organized by the National Institute of South China Sea Studies and the Huayang Center for Maritime Cooperation and Ocean Governance. Experts from China, the United Kingdom, Indonesia, and Singapore participated in the conference. They discussed maritime governance, security, and industry economics, emphasizing the relevance and practical importance of building a maritime community with a shared future amid geopolitical challenges. Participants also discussed the creation of documentaries about the South China Sea and other maritime-themed media products.
Wu Shitsun, Chairman of the Huayang Center for Marine Cooperation and Ocean Governance: "The South China Sea can be seen as a testing ground for building a community with a shared future for the oceans. Cooperation not only brings practical benefits, but, more importantly, it strengthens mutual trust. Only through mutual trust can peace and stability be guaranteed over the long term."
Veronica Sarasvati, Director of the Center for Global Development Research in Indonesia: "China is the largest trade and economic partner of ASEAN countries. The ocean is part of this cooperation—not just in the fisheries sector, but also in ports, infrastructure, and ocean infrastructure. Therefore, this opportunity represents a very positive impetus for expanding cooperation." (Photo: CMG)
