Russia and Tajikistan are jointly developing a project aimed at developing cooperation in space data processing. Representatives of both sides announced this following working talks, according to the CIS Executive Committee press service.
Cooperation was discussed during a meeting between Alexander Rybas, the Russian Federation's Trade Representative in Tajikistan, and Sergei Savelyev, Deputy Director General of the Roscosmos State Corporation. The key issue was the initiative to create a ground-based complex in the republic for receiving, processing, and archiving remote sensing data from space.
The project is currently in the detailed development stage. The parties are discussing the technical parameters of the future facility, organizational mechanisms, and financing models, including the attraction of extra-budgetary resources and various forms of Russian participation.
The initiative's implementation is expected to improve the efficiency of natural resource monitoring, contribute to the development of Tajikistan's digital infrastructure, and deepen scientific and technical cooperation between the countries.
The legal basis for interaction is the intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in the exploration and use of outer space for peaceful purposes.
The creation of a joint space data processing center could be an important step in strengthening Tajikistan's technological sovereignty and expanding Russian-Tajik partnerships in the high-tech sector.
