Tajikistan continues its energy cooperation with Russia and is interested in further exploration of oil and gas fields and resource extraction. This was announced by Tajikistan's Minister of Energy and Water Resources, Daler Juma, on the sidelines of the Energoprom-2026 forum in Kazan, according to TASS.
“We also continue to work and are interested in Gazprom’s return for further exploration and production of oil and gas fields,” he said.
In October, the Russian government reported that Russia and Tajikistan continue to actively discuss the participation of Russian companies in joint projects to develop oil fields in the republic.
Daler Juma previously reported that Tajikistan had invited Russian companies to participate in the development of 22 promising oil and gas fields and processing projects. He stated that the parties plan to decide on joint oil and gas projects this year, and their implementation could begin in 2026.
He also noted that the republic imports the majority of its oil and gas products from Russia. The development of new oil and gas fields in Tajikistan will allow the country to begin exporting to the south.
Tajikistan has approximately 28 registered oil fields, with proven reserves amounting to over 2 million tons, and 12 oil refineries.
